The World Bachata Festival 2016 is back – and with a bang! Organised by the beautiful Liitha Krishnan and her amazing team, they have been tirelessly working all year to bring some of the world’s best salsa and bachata instructors and dancers right here to our little city of Petaling Jaya!
I had the opportunity to watch some of the performances at last year’s World Bachata Festival – and it was simply mind-blowing! I even took some videos of the performances. My only regret was that I didn’t attend the entire festival, which was three days’ full of workshops that ended with performance nights on each of those three days. Because I was unaware of the event, I had a pretty full weekend, and I could only make it on the Sunday night, which was the final night of the festival. Do read about it on my original blog, and watch the videos!
And… if you haven’t read it, you might have missed out on their early bird rate of only RM200 for the complete pass, which ended last year.
The World Bachata Festival is back, and it’s going strong at its 4th year. Running from 18th to 20th November (that’s just next week!!!), the WBF boasts workshops which will be conducted by a lineup of amazing dancers, including 3-time World Salsa champion Nestor Manuelian partnering an equally accomplished Rebecca Vallejo; and 10-time National Champions of New Zealand Coco and Vyara. There will also be plenty of salsa sensations from all over the world gracing the event, including Ana Palma & Basil Nadela from Philippines, Ryu from Japan, Dorin & Niko from Romania, Lam & Kas from Australia and our very own Kalnish Schubert, Amar Singh, KL Son Project, Sam Sopiee from Malaysia!
And music, which is key to enjoying your dance, will be brought to you by amazing spinners, DJ Selva, DJ Dorin, DJ Ryu, DJ Sofrito, DJ Mutati and DJ Gupson.

If you love the sensual latin dance of bachata, then this is one dance festival you must not miss! It’s held right here in Malaysia – at the Bentley Music Auditorium in Kota Damansara (near Ikea / Curve / Tesco). Dancers from all over the world fly in to attend this festival. Since it’s practically here at our doorstep, you shouldn’t miss this opportunity to attend this event. Although it is called World Bachata Festival, this event will also feature other latin dances such as salsa, merengue, zouk and kizomba; so you will definitely get to widen your repertoire of dances.
This is an amazing event that gives dancers an opportunity to learn from some of the world’s best, and even perform in front of their peers!
